Get ready to experience the beauty and bliss of the world’s most sacred mantras! MantraFest 2013 promises to be a truly historic event, bringing together for the first time two visionary musical ensembles, led by three chief architects of the sacred chant phenomenon that have energized the yoga and meditation alternative movement in recent years—Deva Premal, Miten and GuruGanesha. The tour, which kicks off fall 2013 in North America, will reach from Miami to Vancouver and Montreal to Phoenix, presented by Reed’s Culture Club Kombucha and produced by Bright Star Live Events.
Miten comments: “For Deva and me, this tour is about coming together in celebration of a New Beginning—an invitation to celebrate the momentous shift in humanity’s planetary attitudes that is currently underway—a positive change in the way we view the resources we consume, a change in how we view ourselves as messengers of this transformation that is now upon us all. The direct, daily experience that Deva and I have is that mantras support us through every challenge. Our mission is to share this powerful healing tool with the world. And we know that this is a mission we share with GuruGanesha. His music has always been remarkable for a depth of spiritual connection that has a real sparkle and twinkle.”
With a dozen beautiful albums and countless inspiring live performances to their credit, Deva Premal & Miten have become the foremost and best-selling duo in mantra music, with a fan base that includes everyone from Cher to the Dalai Lama.
It all began in 1998, when Deva and Miten’s groundbreaking recording of the ancient Sanskrit “Gayatri Mantra” became the soundtrack for the burgeoning worldwide yoga movement.
The very next year, guitarist/singer/songwriter GuruGanesha embarked on a mission to bring mantras from the Kundalini yoga tradition to a wider audience, launching Spirit Voyage Records and fostering the career of divinely inspired singer Snatam Kaur as her guitarist, supporting vocalist and manager. The GuruGanesha Band is his latest musical project, an adventurous ensemble featuring GuruGanesha’s consummately expressive guitarwork and heartfelt vocals, plus the exquisite, devotion-drenched voice of Paloma Devi.
MantraFest 2013 will unite the soul power of mantra’s reigning couple, Deva Premal & Miten, with the mystical mojo of mantra music’s premier jam band/group vocal sensation, the GuruGanesha Band. Both headliners incorporate a virtual who’s who of virtuoso world devotional musicians. Put it all together and you have a history-making tour that will be the crown jewel of the 2013 sacred music season. The MantraFest tour will delight audiences in 25 major cities with a rapturous evening of sacred chant.
“Deva, Miten and I have been close friends for many years,” said GuruGanesha. “They’re truly heavenly beings who walk the talk. When I was touring with Snatam Kaur in the early days, she and I both considered Deva and Miten as mentors. Their magnificent music radiates a divine love that opens every heart and leaves not a dry eye in the house. Add in the musical magic of our supporting players and you get a presentation that is as polished and professional as anything the mainstream music world has to offer. This tour is going to be a movable joy feast. I expect you’ll see musicians from both groups sitting in with one another.”
Indeed, Deva and Miten will be bringing mantra music’s own Krishna incarnation, the Nepalese bansuri flute maestro, Manose, with them; as well as Dutch keyboard wizard Maneesh de Moor, whose artistry has graced many albums by Deva, Miten and numerous other leading New Age artists. And, along with GuruGanesha and Paloma Devi, the GuruGanesha Band lineup includes renowned multi-instrumentalist Hans Christian (saranghi, nyckelharpa, sitara, cello), who has performed and recorded with many top mantra artists, as well as guitarist Sat Kartar Singh, bassist Gurusangat Singh and drummer/percussionist Tripp Dudley. The tour promises to elevate mantra music to a new level of excellence.
