We are very excited to announce that Gaura-Shakti will be hosting a very special “Earth Hour – Evening of Bhakti”on Saturday, March 19th. On that day, cities around the world will be marking “Earth Hour” from 8:30pm to 9:30pm (www.earthhour.org). During that one hour, people around the globe will be powering down and turning off nonessential lights, sharing a collective message of caring for our planet and combating climate change.
As a way of honouring this special occasion, we will be hosting a very special “Earth Hour Evening of Bhakti”, featuring:
- Candlelight Kirtan – almost all lights will be turned off for the entire event with just candles providing light
- Minimal Sound System – as opposed to using our full setup of 8-9 microphones, we will be using minimal microphones and will rely more on the collective power of our voices
- “Bhakti Yoga & Bhumi” – the evening’s talk will be spent exploring how the ancient eastern teachings of bhakti yoga are intrinsically tied with caring for Mother Earth, known as “Bhumi” in Sanskrit
- Earth Hour – between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, we will spend part of the time in a special meditation and the other part of the hour enjoying a candlelight vegan meal!
We warmly invite all aspiring yogis and spiritual seekers to come out for this special “Earth Hour Evening of Bhakti” at the Hare Krishna Temple, located at 243 Avenue Road. (north of Bloor, @ Roxborough/Dupont – free parking on Roxborough/Macpherson Ave).
As always, admission is free, but donations are welcome! The program will run from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
We expect to have a bigger than normal turnout for the event, so we are asking for everyone to RSVP for the event, even if you are already on our mailing list. We need RSVPs to better plan for the evening.
To RSVP, please visit www.tinyurl.com/eveningofbhakti or www.gaura-shakti.com – if you have any questions, please feel free to write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to sharing this special evening with you.
